Teleport

pittcom facilitiesThe Pittsburgh Teleport is a major provider of international access for Internet, voice, video and data services. The company's facility sits on thirty-six acres and consists of nearly 40 satellite antennas operating on all major, domestic and international satellite systems in the C, Ku and Ka-bands (analog and digital). Its satellite coverage includes the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. In addition, the facility is enabled with fiber and microwave connectivity, and is manned 24/7, 365 days a year. Fiber connectivity is to the primary Bell of Pennsylvania distribution center in Pittsburgh that provides for easy access to all inter-exchange carriers. In this area, the teleport has OC-12 and OC-3 fiber connectivity to the metropolitan Pittsburgh area. Additionally, we offer the following forms of connectivity: (a) high-bandwidth, terrestrial fiber connectivity to Pittsburgh International Telecommunications, connectivity to major ISPs and the U.S. Internet backbone and direct connections to domestic and international markets.
The site is also equipped with 1,200-amp of power. In emergency situations, the facility has both a 400 KW generator and a 125KW generator. PIT is equipped with700 gallons of fuel allowing for about four days of runtime between re-fuelings. For the technical power requirements (no-break power), the site has a 375 KVA Uninterruptible Power Supply with 30 minutes of battery.

Remote Truck

pittcom truckPIT also offers a transportable video uplink service that is analog, Ku, and digitally compatible. This is a complete satellite service for broadcasting, CATV, and corporate communications. Like all of PIT's services, the transportable vehicle is fully redundant for reliability. It is licensed to transmit to international satellites, PanAmSat, ANIK, and Telstar, as well as to domestic satellites throughout the United States.

Pittsburgh Videotech Center

The Pittsburgh Video Tech Center is a fully-equipped production studio, with control room and editing suite, as well as a full-service videoconferencing center located in downtown Pittsburgh. Owned and operated by Pittsburgh International Telecommunications, Inc., the Center is linked via satellite, fiber and microwave to the Technical Operations Center at the teleport.
From the Video Tech Center, PIT produces and delivers, on-demand, live network news feeds 24/7, 365 days a year. Our studio is the host site of program interviews with some of the world's biggest newsmakers for all of the major broadcast and cable networks in the area of news, business and sports. In addition, the 9/11 disaster at Shanksville, is just one example of the PVTC's remote coverage of groundbreaking news stories in and around the tri-state area.
Our three videoconferencing suites offer various sized rooms to fit the client's needs. Legal Depositions, Employee Interviews, Client Meetings, Focus Groups, Corporate Training, and Distant Learning are all areas where Videoconferencing can save time and money while allowing higher productivity that is lost due to travel, and, the VideoTech Center can accommodate any of those requirements.
Videoconferencing service at the Pittsburgh VideoTech Center is available for groups up to 60 people, and can assist in all aspects of your videoconference, including the booking of bridging services and other public facilities in distant locations (both domestically and internationally). An On-site Technician is available during all conferences, and we can provide point-to-point and multi-point conferencing via ISDN or IP-based connectivity.
