Satellite Private Networks
PIT firmly believes that satellite private networks will play a growing and indispensable role in meeting the increasing demands for multimedia services and electronic connectivity around the world. The rapid globalization of the telecommunications industry and the exponential growth of the Internet are placing severe demands on global telecommunications network capabilities. This demand is further increased by the convergence of computing and communications and by the increasing new applications such as Web casting, desktop and video conferencing.
Satisfying customer network requirements is one of the industries greatest challenges. With its advanced satellite communication networks, PIT is poised to be an integral part of the newly emerging national and global information infrastructures. Satellite communication offers a number of advantages over traditional terrestrial point-to-point networks. These include:
- Wide geographic coverage including interconnection of remote terrestrial networks.
- Bandwidth on demand, or Demand Assignment Multiple Access (DAMA) capabilities.
- An alternative to damaged fiber-optic networks for disaster recovery options.
- Multipoint to multipoint communications facilitated, in many cases, by interoperability with the Internet.
- Network Quality Broadcast Video
A Satellite Private Network offers universal connectivity to domestic U.S. and international markets, while retaining the key Private Network benefits that are so crucial in today's competitive economic environment.

Ethnic Broadcasting
PIT can provide occasional to full-time space segment on any domestic or international satellite through such companies as Loral Skynet, IntelSat, PanAm Sat, EutelSat and others. Currently, PIT leases space on Loral's Telstar 5 satellite (transponders 5 and 27) to many ethnic television and radio programmers (see listing on the 'Our Clients' page).
Recent expansion into this growing communications segment, places PIT among the largest ethnic broadcasters in the U.S. Additionally, PIT continues to negotiate with strategic partners to support demanding initiatives in this niche market. The direct-to-home broadcast platform for ethnic programmers to their international communities in the U.S. is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of our future growth, enabling us to provide turnkey solutions for international and domestically based broadcasters.
PIT's end-to end DTH solution includes the following:
- Space segment
- Uplinking / turnaround services
- Terrestrial connectivity
- Encoding / decoding equipment
- Tape playback

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
The forces of nature or other unexpected catastrophes can interrupt even the most reliable network. Often, backup connections follow the same underground cable conduits that primary connections use. Satellite wireless services bypass outages to restore your network connections, to any or all locations. And in emergency situations the local infrastructure, especially cellular telephones, can be quickly overwhelmed. PIT's reach via satellite communications coupled with a choice of fixed or fast deploying transportable terminals can re-connect your affected locations with voice and broadband data services.
Unlike other continuity services, PIT offers several options that can cut costs dramatically. These options enable our customers to implement the business continuity and contingency planning they need with a path completely independent of your primary terrestrial connection. Maintaining backup connections can be costly, and those services may recover only a fraction of your primary capacity. PIT's solution is fast and flexible. It bypasses both the local-loop and the inter-exchange carrier. Your network connections are restored, on-demand, to any or all locations with direct router-to-router connections made at speeds your select. Our network connections provides additional capacity to your existing network at any time your need it.
Typical services include broadband IP connection to 2 Mbps. We also provide synchronous V.35 data connections. Our network supports a range of VPN applications, Internet access, videoconferencing and file downloads. We also offer voice and fax services for a complete continuity package. We also make service installation, activation and operation extraordinarily simple. Once you choose your service plan and equipment configuration, we take care of everything. Your network connection is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the Network Operations Center and includes Help Desk that is always just a phone call away.
